The most important thing--the one necessary thing--God wants me to give
up for Him is authority over my own life and decisions. That is the
starting point of discipleship. If I do not do that on a daily
basis--"early will I seek Thee"--I will loathe whatever cross He asks me
to bear this day. And following Him will be out of the question. "Have
Thine own way, Lord. Have Thine own way. Hold o'er my being absolute
sway." Absolute.
"No man can serve two masters." And if I am
honest in my appraisal, I know of no master more unworthy--more
frightening--to follow than the one I see in the mirror each morning.
