1. John says "By this we know that we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren."
He did not say, "By this we know that we have passed from death unto life because we love the brethren in our denomination."
2. When I try to look into my future and find myself
becoming overwhelmed with imagined "what ifs," I sing with the Psalmist:
"For You are my hope, O Lord God: You are my trust." Resting.
3. "Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me by Your generous Spirit."
Key word: "Your"
We serve the God of generosity--He eagerly answers our prayer for joy
and He eagerly upholds us with His right hand of omnipotent strength.
