Walking

And Enoch walked with God.  The Christian life summed up in one sentence.  The implications of this simple testimony are dynamic.  Walking has certain characteristics does it not?  To walk one must be making progress, moving in a direction toward a goal--a place to reach.  To walk reflects simplicity, a lack of haste, a steady pace.  Such is the Christian life.  We are to be pressing on to the high calling of Christ Jesus, to the fulfillment of what God has chosen us to be.  We are walking home to glory, and until we reach there, we must walk on.  It requires a steady, patient endurance as well.  The path is narrow and straight, and we must be sure not to step to the right or to the left.  And we must delight in the walk so that He can make our way straight.  Even more delightful, we do not walk alone.  We walk with Him, step by step.  He knows the way; He knows every test; He knows the cost; He knows the joy of finishing the faithful walk.  One day He will be so delighted with us that He'll just take us to His place.  Perhaps, like Enoch, we will escape death.  Perhaps, like just about everyone else we will walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, but He does not meet us on the other side--no, He takes that walk with us as well.  And as we walk He shares great truths with us, if we will just listen and participate in the conversation.  Enoch, after all, the sixth from Adam, knew all about the Second Coming.  And preached about it!
And ____________ walked with God.  There can be no greater testimony for the child of God.  Just take His hand, walk with Him, one step at a time, guided by the lamp of His Word, closer Home with every step.  Walk.
