A Day Together

My Lord and I spent the day together.

I saw a new plant rising from the soil and He said, "Unless a seed fall into the ground and die, it cannot bear fruit."

My neighbor's daughter came over to give me a hug as I walked the Acres. And I heard Him say, "Unless you become like one of these little ones--for of such is the kingdom of God. Here, come rest in My embrace."

A friend, for no apparent reason, touched my arm and smiled. He whispered, "Lo, I Am with you always, even until the end of the world."

A sparrow flitted by my window and flew off into the trees. And He reminded me, "I have My eye on every sparrow and its every need is of the utmost importance to Me. I love you so much more than I love all the sparrows in the world."

I meditated on the exquisite beauty of a new lily in the flower bed by the house as He said, "Even Solomon in all His glory was not arrayed like one of these. I Am the Master Artist who created you in My image--a new creation--that you might reflect My glory, that the fragrance of your bloom might fill the air with My presence."

I marveled at a brilliant sunrise with its reds and purples and golds. He shouted, "The heavens declare My glory! The sky shows My handiwork! My eternal power and divine attributes are written there that all men might seek Me and be found."

In the pet store, I watched as an attendant fed the myriad of fish in an aquarium. Without it, they could have no life. He reminded, "I have called you to be fishers of men that they might find eternal life in Me."

I glimpsed one star struggling to shine through the darkness of a cloudy night. "Remember," He said, "You alone are the light of the world. Lights were not meant to be hidden things."

The memory of a long forgotten sin troubled my thoughts and He cried, "As far as the east is from the west, so far have I removed your sins from Me. I have cast them into the depths of the deepest sea. I will remember them no more--forever."

I thought of Pop and Mom and a sadness touched my heart and soul. He consoled me, "Absent from the body; at Home with Me. You will meet them again. You, too, will spend forever with Me. With that truth comfort your soul and the souls of others who have known such loss."

I walked in silence, and His still small voice spoke to me. Jesus and I spent the day together. And this day I noticed that He was there. Listening. "Be still and know that I Am God."
