"If
then you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above,
where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the
things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died
and your life is hidden in Christ."
What are you seeking?
God's description of the man or woman pursuing the material things of
earth: Shipwrecked. Pierced through with many arrows.
Capable of giving in to any evil act. Conceited. Morbid. Of
depraved mind. Plunged into ruin and destruction. Wandering away from
the faith.
And what does He say of those seeking the things
above: Safe in any storm on any sea. Shielded from all the fiery darts
of the evil one. Protected from a host of temptations. Humble. Minds
focused on the beautiful and lovely. Minds focused on righteousness.
Living miles away from the edge of any cliff, walking on the straight
path unafraid of any future--eyes riveted on their Good Shepherd.
Think of what a difference it would make in this world if God's people were clearly in love with spiritual things.
What do others believe is the love of your life? Parents, are you
sending your children out on life's sea to be shipwrecked or storm
proof?
