Happiness is, perhaps, the most difficult word in the world to
define. It seems that everyone has a different definition for it. And
that everyone's definition is constantly changing. For example, if I'm
involved in an athletic contest, happiness is the final score in my
favor. Or around report card time for students, happiness is a grade I
can live with--parents can be terribly vicious. Or in
romance--yuk--happiness is what's-its-face being unable to live without
me. You get the picture. To the world happiness seems to always be
based on the circumstances they hope to find themselves in. Or maybe we
could say that they define happiness as "having what you want when you
want it."
To the Christian, happiness should be just the
opposite. Paul tells us in Colossians 2:3 that in Christ "are hid all
the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." In other words, everything I
could possibly want I already have in the person of Jesus Christ.
Happiness is not having what I want but wanting what I already have.
What does that mean on a practical level? Simply this. Listed below is
everything you as a Christian need in order to be happy:
Impressive list, don't you think?
