A Broken Heart

A broken heart is a heart like God's heart. Joseph had such a heart. Betrayed by his brothers and cast into a pit, he wept. When he found his brothers again, he wept. When he once again fell into his father's arms, he wept. Tears are not a sign of weakness. Joseph who should have been moved to indignation when his brothers stood in front of him, instead cried tears of joy. He had a glimpse of God's plan; the Lord was doing good for His people. All those years of disappointment and sorrow had found their purpose. The broken heart had been worth each tear. And the tears of sorrow were mingled with the tears of joy. God had meant it for good! The Psalmist tells us that God takes the tears of his children and stores them in a bottle--they are precious in His sight. He will turn your weeping into rejoicing.
