Using Our Past

God wants us to use our past to help those we love face their futures.
What can my children and others that I love learn from my mistakes? They can learn that in the darkest moments of life, the Light of the World is always there. He will flood your life with His peace. You will sense His presence. They can learn that harsh words spoken in self-defense can undermine years of love. They can learn that most of the things that they think they can't live without, they can. In fact, they are better off without them. They can learn that one of God's greatest weapons and surest teachers is time--and His timing. They can learn how failures and disappointments and betrayals and sorrows are the bedrock upon which God builds within a man or woman great strength.
What can they learn from my victories? They can learn that the only possible explanation for them is the power of God. They can learn that for every flood there is an ark, for every wilderness journey shoes that never wear out, a pillar and a cloud for guidance, for every giant a slingshot and a stone. They can learn to test every teacher by one standard only--the Word of God. They can learn that victory has nothing to do with outcomes.
We must humbly and honestly share with others how God has taught us, transformed us, led us, and empowered us in our walk with Him. It's called "go into all the world and make disciples."
