Meekness in Action

According to the Bible, Moses was the meekest--the most humble--man who ever lived. And yet, at the same time, God says, "And there arose not a prophet in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face." Imagine that. A meek man is bold in the presence of his Lord. Moses the meek and humbled knew and communicated with God face to face, like no other man ever has. The meekest man in history came boldly into the very presence of Jehovah God to ask what he would. Why is a meek man bold before God? He knows that God is all. He knows that God earnestly desires to use him to accomplish His purpose. He knows that God wants to serve His people, to forgive their sins, to lead them to victory, to lavish them with blessings. Consequently, he comes boldly and expectantly to the throne of grace that he might obtain mercy and help in time of trouble. You see, a meek man knows that he desperately needs mercy and help and that only God can provide it. A meek man understands the character of God and does not hesitate to ask God for the sufficient grace God is anxious to supply to the saint who recognizes his need of it.
And one more thing. Meekness--one of the most powerful traits of the Christian leader--is obtained by a thought process, by spiritual discipline of the mind. "Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus." You are "not to think more highly" of yourself than one ought to think. "In lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself." Christians need meekness and boldness. And they are inseparable. You can't have one without the other. If I feel like I lack God's power in my life, it's usually because I haven't admitted that I need it.
