If I am going to really care about others, there are certain attitudes I must embrace:
I must not be concerned about how events or decisions will affect me. The needs and well-being of the other person must alone matter.
I must be sure that the right thing is always done the right way.
I must believe that nothing that I have belongs to me. I must be ready to use it to aid others.
I must be ready to listen. I must want to hear more than I want to tell.
I must not force my help on others; yet, I must never hesitate to respond cheerfully when asked.
I must not worry about being taken advantage of.
I must be thankful when others show that they care for me. I must never take that for granted.
I must understand that no burden is too heavy.
I must believe that no one is too hopeless to care for.
I must forgive and forget all offenses.
I must not do what I do to be noticed. I must cringe at recognition. I am loving because He first loved me. I must pray that it be "natural" for me to respond to the needs He reveals to me. I can't help myself.
I must give all my cares to Him. Worry is something I can't worry about.
Once I've met you, I must make a lifetime commitment to caring about you and for you.
All day long I must pray for those God lays on my heart.
