One
of the most dangerous attitudes for a child of God to have is "Lord,
this is what I want; this is what I'm going to do. Bless me."
Especially if the thing or the doing is in and of itself a good thing.
(Call it the Jacob syndrome perhaps.) Remember when God told Moses to
go ahead into the Promised Land and He would even send an angel to give
them the victory over their enemies, but He was not going with them?
Moses' response: "If you're not going with us, we don't want to go."
Better the wilderness with God's presence than the place of success
without His presence. May God grant us hearts that yearn for His will
only--no matter what it looks like.
