One
of the great negatives in our walk these days is busyness. Even church
busyness. Our Lord, totally committed to His mission, always took time
to get off alone, to spend time in quietness. He was always in contact
with His Father, but sometimes He just needed to be alone with Him--to
share His thoughts, pray His prayers, to be alone in His "closet" with
His Abba--and ours. We need that same solitude as a part of our obedience. "Be still and know that I am God."
"What a wonderful salvation, where we always see His face. What a peaceful habitation, what a quiet resting place! Blessed quietness, holy quietness, what assurance in my soul; on the stormy sea, speaking peace to me, how the billows cease to roll."
He was found not in the whirlwind or the earthquake or the fire, but in the stillness.
