Enabling

One of the most unloving and dangerous things we can do is to be an enabler--to be someone who tries to mitigate--to get between the deliberate rebel against God and the consequences God is trying to bring into their life so He can bring that person to the end of himself. Such "rock bottom" moments in someone's life are necessary for humility and repentance to take place. Do we really believe that we are wiser and more loving than God? We are not God and to act as if we are, undermines the loving discipline of the true God, prolongs the rebellion of God's child, and may very well deepen the discipline that God uses on His child that He loves--much more than we do. After all, if we keep interfering, He may have to use discipline--consequences--that are impossible for us to mitigate. He will do whatever is necessary to bring His children back into fellowship with Him, back into His loving embrace. Whatever is necessary.
