Be a Blessing

We always, quite naturally, focus on the delightful fact that God wants to bless us.  And yet, God also wants us to be a blessing.  How is that possible?  We must represent Jesus wherever we go.  Think of it.  Whenever Jesus was faced with a need, physical or spiritual, He did everything in His power to meet that need.  He didn't let the cynicism of others affect His decision.  Nor did He let the available resources affect His efforts.  He had a word of encouragement when needed, an exhortation to act when needed, and even a warning about not acting when needed.  All of those needs gave Him an opportunity to be a blessing.  We must do the same.  As He was, our compassion for the needs of others must be so overwhelming that we cannot walk away or make excuses for not intervening on someone's behalf.  No matter who tells us the problem is too big or the resources are too small, we must act.  And the provision needed need not be great.  One word of thanks, one word of praise, one word of exhortation, one word of warning may become the greatest blessing someone has ever received.  Don't sit around waiting for God to bless you.  Start today being a blessing giver.
