As
we celebrate--rejoice in--the sacrificial death and empowering
resurrection of our Savior this weekend--and the resurrection was the
truth that most stirred the ancient world to whom the Gospel first
came--we need, I think, to reflect on God our Father. He was the One
whom our Savior always sought to glorify--"I do always those things that
please Him."
The Father was the One to whom Jesus prayed to gained the strength necessary for each day. He was the One Jesus always obeyed.
We should remember that our Father "so loved the world" that He gave His Son to free men from condemnation and wrath.
We should remember that our Father has adopted us into His family and made us joint-heirs with His Son.
We should remember that our Father is the One to whom we pray through our Savior, Jesus, the Christ--the Mediator between God the Father and man.
We should remember that Paul never writes a letter to any church without reminding them of the praise they owe to God their Heavenly Father.
We should remember that our Father is the Keeper of the Vineyard and the Vine to whom we as the branches are attached that we might bear eternal fruit to His glory.
We should remember that our Father called forth Abraham from among the wicked and made with Him the covenant of grace that all who believe His promises--Jew and Gentile--would be made righteous on the basis of faith alone.
We should remember that our Father is Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord who provides the sacrifice that is the necessary propitiation for our redemption.
We should remember that our Father is waiting patiently, hoping that all will come to repentance.
We should remember that our Father will one day hand to His Son--The Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Lamb that was slain--the book of judgment that will destroy the wicked and avenge the righteous and remove the curse that plagues His creation.
We should remember that our Father's power raised our Savior from the dead, defeating death, and guaranteeing to all who believe in Him eternal life in His presence forever more.
As we celebrate with great joy our Savior's, perfect, sinless life, our Savior's atoning sacrificial death, and our Savior's majestic resurrection from the dead, let's not forget to praise our Heavenly Father and what He has done for us and will yet do for His children.
He, too, is the Savior of the world.
"He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him, graciously give us all things."
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ."
