There
are some today that believe that a culture should determine what is
right or wrong. Right and wrong should be determined by popular
opinion, by the majority. With just a cursory knowledge of history,
that's a frightening idea.
There are some today that believe that right and wrong is determined by each person. I choose what's right for me; you can choose what's right for you. The old "everyman does what is right in his own eyes" approach. I find that equally frightening.
Some people seem to act as if both of those ways of determining right and wrong are true--which seems absurd to me. Right and wrong is determined by the majority, but I determine what's right or wrong for me as an individual. How does that work? I guess it boils down to society has decided that there is no right or wrong, so do as you please.
The problem arises, of course, when a standard other than the one established by God is set aside. But I'll tell you what really breaks my heart: There are Christians who believe in one or both of those ideas. Jesus lovingly suffered and died because sinners were in desperate need of a Savior. The Devil is working overtime to convince us that there is no such thing as a sinner. How tragic to be God's child and preach the Devil's message. And please don't claim that either one of those views of morality is loving.
