More-ism

I think one of the impediments to Christian growth is "more-ism." I'm always playing the more game in order to rationalize my obedience--or lack of it. You know, "I'm sure I give more than he does." "I'm more spiritual than he is." "He appears to be way more apathetic about spiritual things than I am." And on it goes. But where someone else is spiritually is not what it's about. (As if I really know anyway.) The question is where am I spiritually in my walk with God. And the standard I need to compare myself to? Not other Christians, but my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That's the cure for "more-ism."
