When
I fail to respond kindly, gently--softly, to those who deliberately or
unintentionally, say or do things that rive my soul and wound my heart, I
cede to them control over my happiness, joy, and contentment. And it
is only by submission to the Spirit who lives within me that I can
respond the right way when it is the last way the natural man that is me
desires to respond. "A soft answer turns away wrath"--not just the
other person's wrath, but the anger that is in me as well. May God
enable me to always speak softly--or not at all. His conquering love
speaks gently, "Father, forgive them."
