Misery
One
of the saddest, most sobering lessons to be learned from the generation
that died in the wilderness was their total distrust of God's love for
them. They had been redeemed by the Passover Lamb, rescued from
slavery--yet, they never fully believed that He loved them and would
meet their every need. Thus, as children of God, they lived a miserable
life of murmurings, failures, disobedience, and
strife. God still met their every need! Even to the shoes on their
feet never wearing out! But they never fully understood how much He
loved them. May God grant me the grace "to be rooted and grounded" in
His love, to fully comprehend "the breadth and length and height and
depth" of His love, to "know the love of Christ that surpasses
knowledge" that I may be "filled up to all the fullness of God." Could
there be anything more tragic then to be a child of God, redeemed and
set free by Him, and still live a miserable life of unbelief--a life
doubting that great love? Ahh, to never know the best He has in store
for us. . . How could my circumstances in any way cast doubt on His
love for me when He willingly died on the cross for my sins?
