Difficult Words

Why is it that two of the most difficult words to say in the English language are "thank you"? Look at all the things God says MUST be intertwined with thanksgiving:

Holy Living (Eph. 5:3-4)
Being filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18-20)
Christian growth and steadfastness (Col. 2:7)
Peace (Col.3:15)
Christian service (Col. 3:17)
Persevering and expectant prayer (Col. 4:2)
Doing the will of God (I Thess. 5:18)

Do you get some idea why the devil loves murmurers and unthankful people? In fact, unthankfulness was a part of the turning point in human history. Romans 1:21 states, "Because that, when they knew God they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful: but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened." According to Paul, from there on out, "Neither were thankful," began the decline of man to moral decline and ruin. So the next time in your dealings with God or men that you have the opportunity to say those two little words, "Thank you," fire away. It's an essential part of godly living.
